AMC has a lot of series sklated for a 2023 release, and among them are two series from the Anne Rice universe. One of the upcoming shows, Anne Rice Mayfair Witches, will be based on Rice’s novel ‘The Witching Hour, ‘ exploring the relationship between the Mayfair and the shapeshifters.
Rice is famous among her Facebook readers for creating some gothic horror series laced with romance, and we are here for all of it. The question that lingers is whether AMC will be able to maintain the same style she writes her novel in the upcoming production.

The series received its green light to develop eight episodes, and we expect it to be released between mid or late 2024 or early 2025. AMC president McDermott initially commented that 2023 will be one of the most significant years for AMC as they will be releasing the two series in the Anne Rice universe.
Anne Rice Mayfair Witches Season 2 Cast: Who will be in?
Alexandria Daddario will play the series’ main protagonist Rowan Fielding. The actress has been featured in some award-winning shows, including Why Women Kill, Parenthood, and White Collar. Jack Huston (Fargo) is set to play Lasher, the shape-shifting council of witches connected to the Mayfair families for over a hundred years.
Huston also has a rich history in film, including ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ the HBO series. He has also featured in the ‘Antebellum’ show, and one of his cast members Tongayi Chrisa will play the role of Ciprien Grieves; Ciprien Grieves is one of the unknown names in the book series, but since he will be premiering in all eight episodes, he must have an essential role in the show.
Anne Rice Mayfair Witches Season 2 Plot: What will happen?
The upcoming series is based on the Lives of the Mayfair, one of Rice’s trilogy. And it tells the story of a neurosurgeon whose life crumbles when she realizes she is a witch. Not only is she a witch, but she is also a 13th witch and the witch’s family heiress. Putting her in the spotlight, the witch has to battle with 13 generations worth of family drama and terrible forces while coming to terms with her newfound abilities. Jack Huston will also portray the shape-shifting witches held captive by the Mayfair witches for centuries. The book was set in ancient times, but according to the trailer and the production photos circulating online, it is confirmed that the series will be placed in the new age.
Anne Rice Mayfair Witches Season 2 Trailer: When can we see it?
The Anne Rice Mayfair teaser has not been released, but it does not do too much to give us an idea of what we should expect. It starts at an eerie house, with a lot of chanting, a woman entering through the gate, and a group of people collectively holding their hands in a circle. One of them eventually shouts the thirteenth witch before the teaser ends.
Since the series was scheduled to be released before the year ends, you should expect a trailer anytime soon. In the meantime, there are other vampire shows that you may want to check out. This fantasy horror drama really got mixed reviews. According to the critics and viewers, the series’ visuals are fantastic, but the lack of script development and character portrayal led to a full disappointment. This led to low ratings like 6.2/10 on IMDb, 43% on Tomatometer, and 48% on audience scores through the Rotten Tomatoes website.
