Houston Texans drafted Deshaun in 2017, the 1st round of the NFL Draft. On 12th May 2017, the Texans signed him to a four-year contract with $13.84 million with a signing bonus of $8.21 million. On 10th September 2017, he made his 1st regular-season appearance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He threw his 1st NFL touchdown in the 3rd quarter, a 4-yard pass finishing with 102 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. He earned honors like AFC Offensive Player of the Month, AFC Offensive Player of the Week, and the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.
On 2nd November, Deshaun tore his ACL during practice. In 7 games during his rookie year, Deshaun recorded 1,699 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions; he also rushed for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns. On 16th March 2021, a Houston Texans massage therapist filed a civil lawsuit against Deshaun, claiming that he asked to have intercourse, but he denied the claim. However, it was reported that Deshaun later contacted her and apologized for his actions. The following day, another massage therapist claimed that Deshaun had met her at the Houstonian Hotel in 2020 and asked for sexual pleasure from her. On 18th March 2021, a 3rd civil lawsuit was filed against Deshaun, alleging that he had forced her to perform oral sex.
On 19th March 2021, 9 more civil suits had been filed against Deshaun, and on 22nd March 2021, a 14th lawsuit was filed. Further, by 5th April 2021, 22 lawsuits were filed against him.
