Jack Greene was a regular on the Wnox show, Tennessee Barn Dance, while at 18. He moved to Atlanta in the early 1950s to pursue his musical career. While in Atlanta, he formed his band, The Peach Tree Boys. In 1959 he formed another band in Nashville, the Tennessee Mountain Boys. His major career break was in 1961, when he performed the opening act for Ernest Tubb. Tubb was impressed and gave Greene a call-up to his band Texas Troubadors the following year. Greene continued his career as a band’s guitarist, drummer and vocalist.
In 1970 he partnered with Jeannie Seely, with whom they produced hit country songs such as I Wish I Didn’t Have To Miss You. He signed a record with Frontline Records in 1980 and released hit songs that saw him top the country charts until his death.
