See, the posts apocalyptic series with Jason Momoa did extremely well and Apple TV is getting ready for Chief of War, a historical period drama set to take almost the same approach. Momoa will star as the series co-creator and producer and will also star as the series protagonist. He will be writing the series alongside Thomas Pa’a. Doug Jung, famous for writing Star Trek Beyond, will serve as the showrunner and the executive producer alongside Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, and Jenno Toping. Here is everything we know about the upcoming series.

Chief of War Season 1 Release Date:

There is no official release date for the Chief of War series, and we have yet to determine how soon the series trailer will be released. The limited series filming had already begun, and filming is likely still underway or in the post-production stage. If production wraps up early enough, you should expect the series to be released earliest by mid-2023 and latest, before the year ends.

Chief of War Season 1 Plot:

The series’ plot follows the colonization era and the Hawaiian people’s unification. It tells the story from an indigenous person’s view. Momoa, the series protagonist, has always been passionate about his Hawaiian heritage. The series could have been birthed from his passion and interest, making him the best person to play the protagonist’s role.

From the series description, the series might take place between 1705-1810, when the Hawaiian leaders united the Hawaiian island into one United Kingdom after centuries of wars and conflicts. Chief Kai’ana leaves home to study the group of people who have terrorized their people for a long time. He realizes that the Hawaiian Islands will eventually crumble and takes it upon himself to bring the warring lands to peace. By uniting them, he saves them from the pending doom and destruction.

Chief of War Season 1 Cast:

Momoa stars as Chief Kai’ana, the leader of the Hawaiian Islands who reunites his people and the Hawaiian Islands into one peaceful kingdom after centuries of conflicts and rivalries. He will be cast alongside Temuera Morrison as King Kahekili and Luciana Buchanan as Ka’ahumanu. Morrison has featured in several series, including voicing Bobba Fett in the Empires Strikes Back and portraying Bobba Fett in The Mandalorian.

Other casts include Te Ao as Kai’ana, Kaina Makua as Kamehameha, Moses Goods as Moku, Siua Ikale’o as Nahi, Brandon Finn as Prince Kupule, James Udom as Tommy, and Siaosi as Maui.
