Moira Walley-Beckett created it for CBC Television. The series was gained popularity with its three seasons, where the story revolved around an orphan girl Anne and her life as she grows up and falls in love. On March 19, 2017, the series premiered on CBC and on May 12, globally, on Netflix. It was renewed for a second series on August 3, 2017, and for the third season in August 2018.
