THE DICKINSON, Apple TV+ historical TV show, has been under work even before the first season was released, as Apple TV+ ordered for the second season’s production before the first episode was aired. The sitcom was renewed for a second season before the first-ever aired, and Apple TV+ followed a similar releasing pattern with the following season, renewing “Dickinson” for Season 3 in October 2020, although Season 2 launched a few months later, on January 8, 2021.
The series puts a modern twist on the famous American Poet Emily Dickinson. The show takes viewers into the times and era in which Emily Dickinson lived, while adventurously exploring the norms of the society she lived in. The expected roles of her gender and the influence of family on the budding writer who doesn’t fit into her period. The show has been nominated for its outstanding comedy at the 31st Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Also, the series clinched the Peabody Award for Entertainment, making it the first show from Apple TV+ to win such honor.
