Syfy’s enchanting TV series has painfully come to an end; the cable channel has canceled the TV series, making the fifth season, which aired April 1st, the series finale. The captivating novel series by Lev Grossman was adapted for TV by Sera Gamble (You) and John McNamara and it has been entertaining viewers since the first season was released in December 2015. The fantasy series has received an average rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes over the course of its five-year run.
The show producers made it known that The Magicians is ending because they couldn’t continue with the story. However, convincing another company to pick up the series could prove challenging as streaming services are presently focused on new and flashy shows rather than continuing existing series. The show’s producer Gamble expresses her view of the cancelation saying: “We had a sense going into this season that Syfy, in particular as our first platform, was kind of hitting the point of ‘the cup is full, and there’s no more room.”

As mentioned earlier, the show was not continued because of the declining storyline; rather, finances are the cancellation’s leading cause as Syfy believes the show has become expensive. The Magicians Season 6 Plot Predictions: What will happen?
The show follows Quentin Coldwater and his friends as they begin their journey to study magical pedagogy at Brakebills University. By the end of the fourth season, it was established that Quentin is dead, this shook up the storyline. The fifth season which focused on life after Quentin never failed to deliver the regular top-notch entertainment associated with the show. The group of friends had surrendered to the realization of Quentin’s death, and Fillory was reliably destroyed. But it was established again with a bit of each friend becoming a piece of the magical world. A world built from the magicians’ very essence would have been a brilliant storyline to be explored and very much filled with an interesting plot.

The cast of The Magicians includes Jason Ralph as Quentin Coldwater, Stella Maeve as Julia Wicker, and Olivia Dudley playing the role of Alice Quinn. Other characters include Hale Appleman as Eliot Waugh, Summer Bishil, and Rick Worthy as Henry Fogg. However, with the killing of Jason’s character Quentin will no longer be a regular had the show continued.
