In 2012, when Lauren was 15, she auditioned for The X Factor US (second season). After 4 rounds of preliminary auditions, at 16, she was called back for the TV audition in front of the judges. For her audition, Lauren performed “If I Ain’t Got You,” and Judge Antonio Reid described her voice as husky, round, and mature, making her a perfect audition. Lauren entered the next round after all four of the judges approved. During the 2nd round of boot camp, she stood against country group Sister C and sang “These Arms of Mine.”
