Andrew named the 2013 NL MVP when he was playing in Pittsburgh Pirates, has agreed to a 1-year deal worth $5 million with the team for the upcoming season.

A milestone is likely ahead for Andrew, who needs to score 52 more hits to achieve 2,000 in his career, 8 more doubles to reach 400, and 13 more homers to reach 300. 

Pittsburgh drafted him in 2005 with the 11th overall pick and 2009 promoted him to the big leagues in 2009. Soon Andrew established himself as an impact player. Further, in 2011, he was named to the All-Star team, the first of 5 consecutive seasons in which he earned that honor. In 2014, Andrew led the league in on-base percentage and OPS. In the 1st round of 2005 MLB draft, Andrew was drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He signed with the team, receiving a $1.9 million signing bonus. On 3rd June 2019, he suffered a knee injury, and on 4th June, an MRI revealed Andrew had a torn ACL, and he will not be able to play the rest of the season. On 14th June, he had surgery; at the time of his injury, Andrew was batting .256/.378/.457 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs in 219 at-bats, 4.45 pitches per plate appearance, and 45 runs.
