What’s New on Amazon Prime in May 2023

Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service in May 2023 is set to bring comedies, dramas, stand-up specials, and even an awards presentation for country best music. Some of the most anticipated additions to Prime Video this month are the stand-up comedy specials One in a Billion by Zarna Garg, Pretty Fly for a Dickhead by Tommy Little, and Guess How Much? by Jimmy O. Yang. The films Violent Night, Till, She Said, and Three Thousand Years of Longing are just a few of the notable arrivals to Prime Video this month.

10. A Beautiful Mind (2002)

Ron Howard helmed the American biographical drama film A Beautiful Mind in 2001. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman was inspired to write the film after reading Sylvia Nasar’s biography of Nobel Prize–winning economist and mathematician John Nash. On December 21, 2001, it premiered in theaters across the United States. As a result of its success, it was nominated for four Academy Awards and took home the statuettes for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress for Jennifer Connelly.

9. Daniel Visits A New Neighborhood (2022)

In June, PBS Kids will debut a new Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood movie on stations around the country titled Daniel Visits a New Neighbourhood. Daniel and his mother take a vacation to see Mom Tiger’s friend and her family, including Juan Carlos, a young boy who corresponds with Daniel through letters. Daniel experiences his first train voyage and first time away from the Neighbourhood of Make-Believe, both of which teach him valuable lessons.

8. Darkest Hour (2017)

Joe Wright and Anthony McCarten’s Darkest Hour is a 2017 war drama film. This movie recounts Winston Churchill’s first months in office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II and the war cabinet crisis that he precipitated in May 1940 by refusing to negotiate a peace accord with Nazi Germany as they advanced across Western Europe.

7. Tommy Little: Pretty Fly for a Dickhead (2023)

In May, Australian comedian Tommy Little’s new comedy special, “Tommy Little: Pretty Fly For A Dickhead,” will premiere exclusively on Prime Video. The hour-long film was shot in front of a live audience in Melbourne, capturing Little at the height of his performance prowess. Little has risen to the top of the Australian comedy scene thanks to his sharp wit and uninhibited style. His newest misguided endeavor, becoming a pilot, is the subject of his new show.

6. Till (2022)

In 2022, Chinonye Chukwu will helm the biographical drama film Till, with a script by Michael Reilly, Keith Beauchamp, and Chukwu. Beauchamp, Reilly, and Whoopi Goldberg will serve as producers. The film is based on the life of Mamie Till-Bradley, a teacher and activist who sought retribution for the 1955 murder of her son, Emmett, then 14 years old. Starring alongside Jalyn Hall as Emmett are Danielle Deadwyler as Mamie.

5. Carrie (2002)

The supernatural horror picture Carrie from 2002 was adapted from Stephen King’s 1974 novel of the same name. This is the third installment in the Carrie film series and the second film adaptation/re-imagining of the novel. Angela Bettis plays the lead role in the film, which was written by Bryan Fuller and directed by David Carson. Carrie White, a quiet student who is bullied by her peers, goes missing, and the plot unfolds through flashbacks.

4. Zarna Garg: One in a Billion (2023)

In May, Prime Video will debut Zarna Garg’s debut stand-up comedy special. Zarna Garg: One in a Billion was announced by Amazon in a news release in May 2023. The Indian-American comedian Garg gained popularity on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube before being cast in the Apple TV+ original sitcom Gutsy. She tours and does 15 shows a week at Comedy Cellar.

3. The Ferragnez – The Series season 2 (2023)

Francesco Imperato helms the Amazon Prime Original series The Ferragnez, an Italian documentary programme. The series follows Chiara Ferrangni and Fedez, a couple with a large online following, through the highs and lows of their relationship and the struggles they face as a young family trying to make their aspirations a reality. The Ferragnes, based on a true event, is a popular show on its OTT service because of its depiction of the world’s spiciest married pair.

2. Top Five (2014)

The American comedy film Top Five was written and directed by Chris Rock in 2014. Filmed in New York City, the story follows comedian and movie star Andre Allen (Rock), who is interviewed by journalist Chelsea Brown (Dawson), who forces him to face his history and comedy career. The film is produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, and also stars Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union.

1. Hot Pursuit (2015)

Directed by Anne Fletcher and produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, Hot Pursuit is an American action comedy film that was released in 2015. David Feeney and John Quaintance penned the piece. While on the run through Texas from corrupt police and criminals who want her dead, the plot follows a police officer assigned to guard the widow of a drug boss. It features Sofa Vergara and Reese Witherspoon in lead roles.
