In the absence of Anthony Davis, how do Thomas Bryant’s stats affect the Los Angeles Lakers’ winning streak?
About three weeks ago, when Anthony Davis (29) went down with an injury in his right foot, it was clear the Los Angeles Lakers were in trouble.
The team needed someone to replace the production and the energy, intensity, and presence he provided well before his injury.
Thomas Bryant was the one, as he had already played well in a backup role before Anthony was sidelined. Still, Thomas has been playing outstanding basketball, starting with the 16th December contest in which Anthony got hurt.
During that span, Thomas has averaged 17.2 points on an amazing 68.1 percent shooting and 10.2 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game. Even though he isn’t a very good 3-point shooter, but has helped space the floor by hitting 55.0 percent of his attempts from downtown.
In Saturday’s exciting 136-134 victories over the Sacramento Kings, Thomas recorded a season-high 29 points on 12 shooting and 14 rebounds.
Thomas’s ability to get open and convert in the paint has propelled the team to a five-game winning streak.
