Nightbooks is a Netflix Original kids’ horror fantasy movie that first hit the screens on September 15, 2021. It is based on Nightbooks, a book by J. A White and is currently among the most-watched movies on the platform.
It has received many positive reviews, with fans terming it a satisfactory horror offering for kids. It is rated at 5.8 by IMDb and 85% by Rotten Tomatoes, which happens to be one of the ‘harshest’ movies and series critics.
The main query that remains unanswered is whether Netflix will release a sequel. Let’s find out.
Nightbooks Season 2 Release Date:
Even though Netflix has not relayed any information pointing at the possibility of a new season, the movie’s ending suggests that there will be a sequel.
The book this movie is based on also suggests that more things are yet to come up and happen in the Nightbooks universe, even though a second book hasn’t yet been released.
David Yarovesky, who directed the movie, hopes there will be a second offering that he is willing to direct. If this becomes a reality, we can expect the sequel to premiere in late 2023 or thereabout.
Nightbooks Season 2 Cast:
Nightbooks had several superb actors that successfully made the plot thrilling and satisfying at the same time. If a sequel is produced, we can expect the three main characters played by Lidya Jewett (Good Girls), Winslow Fegley, and Krysten Ritter.
It is worth noting that Krysten Ritter recently starred in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, a Netflix original series.
Other cast members include Khiyla Aynne, Luton Handspiker, Laim Couvion, Ede. Gjoka, Jess Brown, Miley Haik, and Taylor Belle.
Nightbooks Season 2 Plot:
In the first movie, Alex( Real name Fegley) is taken to an apartment with an evil witch. She holds him hostage under the condition that he must write a scary story every day or lose his life. While there, Alex meets Yasmin(Jewett), who is also imprisoned by the witch, and together they try to survive the haunted apartment.
One can also assume that it is a story of friendship as Alex bonds with Yasmine. The movie is punctuated by mild jump scares a fight against supernatural creatures, frightening and intense situations, and a violent and mischievous cat.
It ends with Alex and Yasmine reuniting with their families, restarting their lives, and gaining identities. However, we are also taken back to the scene of Natacha under the gingerbread’s debris.
We should therefore expect more or Natacha in the sequel if any. All we can be certain about is that she will be up to no good. Once the director receives a green light from Netflix, it will be time to see what will become of Natacha.
Nightbooks Season 2 Trailer:
Given that not much is known about whether this movie will have a sequel, we can’t have a trailer by now. It dropped in mid-September, meaning that it hasn’t been streaming for long. However, rest assured that we will keep you posted if a trailer comes up, which can only happen if Netflix makes it clear that there will be a sequel.
