John’s first television role was as ‘Blackie Parrish’ in 1982; it was a medical drama series ‘General Hospital.’ Initially, the character was planned to appear in only five episodes, but the audience loved John’s character, making him a mainstay. In 1984, John appeared in the lead role of ‘Dreams,’ a CBS sitcom, where he played the role of the aspiring musician ‘Gino Minnelli.’ but later, the show was canceled after one season.
