Blake Shelton Announces To Leave “The Voice”
Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice after 11 seasons, announced Tuesday.
Shelton has been a part of the popular reality show since its inception in 2011 and has been a coach for seven seasons. His last season will be next year’s Season 20.
“I have two things to share with you guys today,” Shelton said in a video posted to social media. “First of all, next season, Season 20 of The Voice, will be my last.”
“It’s been insanely cool to grow as an artist and to have had success on The Voice,” he continued. “I mean, who would’ve thought somebody like me would’ve had any success on this level?”
Shelton said that while looking forward to the future, he’ll always cherish his time on The Voice.
“I just want everybody to know how thankful I am for everything,” he said. “And I just truly hope you guys will continue to support me and follow me as I move on to whatever the future holds.”
Shelton’s fellow coaches also took to social media to share their thoughts on his departure.
“I just found out that my good friend and brother Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice,” Adam Levine wrote on Instagram. “Blake, I’m gonna miss you, man.”
“It has been an honor and a privilege to work with you,” he continued. “You are a massive part of the success of this show, and you’re an incredible coach.”
Levine said that Shelton is “one of the coolest guys” he knows and is looking forward to his future.
“I know you’re gonna kill it in whatever you do,” he said. “I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you, my friend.”
“Blake Shelton is an original voice and a true musical maverick,” added John Legend. “It’s been so special to watch him grow as an artist and coach on The Voice.”
“I know he will continue to create great art and inspire all of us in the years to come,” he continued. “Thanks for everything, Blake!”
In a statement, NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy said that Shelton has been “an incredible coach, mentor, friend and advocate” for the show.
“We are fortunate that Blake will remain in our family as The Voice returns for its landmark 20th season next year,” he said. “We are also excited to see what lies ahead for him, and we wish him all the best.”
