Foster, the football fanatic, attended the University of Arkansas and suited up for the Razorbacks. In addition, from 1987 to 1989, Barry played college ball while donning jersey number 18.

As a member of the Razorbacks, he was instrumental in the team’s 1988 and 1989 Southwest Conference Championship runs. Barry completed three years of college before dropping out. Foster explained his choice by saying that the previous coach, Hatfield, had left and that he did not feel enthusiastic about working with the new coach, Clemson. In addition, Barry disclosed that he was compelled to forego higher education because of financial constraints. On the other hand, Foster had high hopes for the 1990 NFL draft.

Foster, the optimistic individual, was certain the Cleveland Browns would pick him, but he was dealt a larger setback. The Cleveland Browns did not choose him in the draft. Barry claims playing the games was much simpler than working through drills with Noll. In the opening game of his rookie NFL season in 1990, Barry made a disastrous error by failing to collect a kick against the 49ers. Also, the Steelers lost the game due to the same mistake.

Barry, though, got better as the series went on. Barry had a 121-yard running game and a 56-yard touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in 1991, but he was injured shortly after and missed the next five games. The next year, in 1992, Foster scored 1690 yards and set a slew of new marks. In the same season that Barry scored 11 touchdowns, he was named to the Pro Bowl.

The year 1993 was another successful one for Barry. The Pro Bowl was only one of the rewards for his 711 yards in just nine games. Even still, 1993 was not a year free of harm for Barry. For Barry, 1994 was a restricting year as well. He participated in 11 games, with 851 yards in total. When the Steelers faced the Indianapolis Colts in September 1994, he rushed the ball 31 times for 179 yards and a touchdown. Bam Morris replaced Barry as the starting running back after both suffered injuries that year. Barry was sent to the Panthers from the Steelers back in 1995. The running back, Foster, expressed surprise and dismay at being released by the Steelers in one of his interviews.

As if that wasn’t awful enough, Barry failed his physical and was cut off the Panthers’ roster. That’s why Barry has chosen to end his working career.
