Tom Hardy is an English actor, producer, writer, and model. He made his film debut in 2001 in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down. He is well known for acting as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and for the title character in Marvel’s Venom. Further, Tom has also played notable roles in the films Warrior, Bronson, Star Trek Nemesis, and the Oscar-winning films Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant.

Tom Hardy Wins Jiu-Jitsu Competition

Tom Hardy gave a surprise this Saturday, 17th September, as he entered the 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championships in Milton Keynes in a blue gi, beat all of his opponents, and returned home winning a gold. 

Tom competed and won first place in his Division (MALE GI / BLUE / MASTER 3 (41+)). This division puts him at a high-level Blue Belt, the 2nd ranking color out of five (Black Belt being the highest).

The bystanders and other competitors were left stunned as Tom turned up at the school hall in Milton Keynes, England. A viral video on social media shows him putting submission holds on his opponent, with the crowd cheering him on. 

This was not the first time Tom quietly turned up to a martial arts competition. Early in August, the actor won the REORG Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Wolverhampton, a tournament aimed at raising funds for military personnel, emergency service workers, and veterans. Tom is a trustee for REORG, a charity teaching jiu-jitsu for those with severe injuries and people suffering from PTSD and depression.
