The Hot Zone is an anthology series airing on National Geographic “Nat Geo” The series is based on Richard Preston’s fiction book “The Hot Zone” written back in 1994. So far, the series has two seasons, both airing on National Geographic. If you have watched the first two series, you might wonder what the focus will be in season three.
A wild guess is it may be a national pandemic, just like the others. It might be Covid, but these are only speculations that will be confirmed once the series is renewed. Is the third series out? News of the cancellation or renewal is yet to be announced, but a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDb might be the sign we need.
The Hot Zone Season 3 Release Date:
Season one of The Hot zone was released on 27th May 2020 and dropped until 29th May. The initial intention of the series was to produce a miniseries closely based on Nancy Jaax, the Army scientist who had predicted a likely outbreak of Ebola. Afterward, a pathologist identified the virus on a monkey in a Quarantine facility in Washington D.C. After the Ebola story, fans loved the documentary, which renewed the series for the second season.
“The Hot Zone; Anthrax,” just like the name, focuses on animal anthrax outbreaks. Like the first season, the second season consists of six episodes, focusing on the Anthrax Outbreak. Since the series was released on 28th November 2021, we are yet to know if it will be renewed, but if it gets renewed, the third season is likely to be in late 2023 or early 2024.
The Hot Zone Season 2 Recap:
The movie being an anthology series; it is hard knowing which outbreak season three will focus on. The second season stars two researchers, Tony Goldwin and Mathew Ryker. It also stars Daniel Kim as the FBI Agent. When people start dying after receiving mailed letters, Daniel and his team are forced to investigate what could be the reason.
They later find out that the virus Anthrax is very deadly when inhaled. Since the Anthrax attacks occur after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it creates paranoia among the citizens. With the investigation having US security on the line, legal professionals have to fight for the investigation of Daniel and the FBI team.
The Hot Zone Season 3 Cast:
So far, we have a list of some of the characters who will be featuring in the third season, but their specific roles are yet to be released. Julianna Margulies (The Morning Show), the award-winning actress renowned for her role in ER Drama series (1994-2009), will star in the movie. Other casts are; Noah Emmerich (Space Force), Topher Grace, Daniel Dae Kim, Liam Cunningham, and James D’Arcy. The official Channel would communicate additional information about the casts.
The Hot Zone Season 3 Trailer:
The Hot Zone Season 2 left us with mysteries that fans would mind not getting answers from. However, the third season’s trailer is yet to be released, and there is no likelihood of it being soon. Fans who love the second season can’t wait for the third season but will have to be patient; they may go through the second and first seasons again. The second time is always a charm.
