Wolfwalkers is an Apple Original Film. It is the latest production from the two-time Academy Award-nominated director, Tom Moore, and director Ross Stewart. The co-producer is the award-winning animation studios Cartoon Saloon and Melusine Productions. Wolfwalkers is an Irish folktale. The film will make its North American world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The animation will stream worldwide on Apple TV+ in the fall following its domestic theatrical run from GKids.
WHAT IS REALLY BEHIND THE PRODUCTION OF WOLFWALKERS
Together with Stewart, who previously co-directed the section On Love for The Prophet, Moore developed this story based on themes that had inspired them since they were kids. Though the visual style is quite ambitious, it allowed them to utilize the hand-drawn animation potential’s full bandwidth. This style enabled them to create a block print style environment for the townspeople and a contrasting pencil and watercolor style for the forest.
Additionally, they worked with director Eimhinn McNamara, an Irish animator, to create a style for when you see the world through the Wolfwalkers. Moore adds that the final technique uses a much more three-dimensional camera than their previous projects though it is rendered with charcoal paper to create a very handmade effect.
WOLFWALKERS PLOT :
During a time where superstition and magic prevails, a young apprentice hunter named Robyn Goodfellowe embarks on a journey to Ireland. He travels with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. Robin forms a friendship with a free-spirited girl, Mebh, while exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls. Mebh is a member of a mysterious tribe rumored to have the ability to transform into wolves during the night. While searching for Mebh’s missing mother, Robin discovers a secret that pulls her further into the enchanted world of the Wolfwalkers and risks turning into the very thing her father asked her to destroy.

The cast clean up is more detailed than the previous Moore films. The full cast and crew for Wolfwalkers 2020 include Sean Bean as Bill(voice), Honor Kneafsey as Robin (voice), Eva Whittacker as Mebh Mac Tire (voice), Simon McBurney as Lord Protector Cromwell (voice), Tommy Tiernan as Sean Og (voice), Maria Doyle Kennedy as Moll Mac Tire (voice), Jon Kenny as Stringy (voice), John Morton as Sumpy(voice), Nora Twoney, Paul Young, Niamh Moyles and Oliver McGrath as Additional Voices. Eva Whittacker happens to be an actor also known for The Girl at the End of the Garden(2019).
WHEN IS APPLE’S WOLFWALKER RELEASE HAPPENING?
Apple has already dropped a teaser for its first animated feature, Wolfwalker, which will stream exclusively on Apple TV+ after its initial theatrical run. Watch Wolwalkers official teaser here:
The animation sets to premiere at TIFF later in September 2020. Before the film’s debut, the official trailer came out informing the viewers that it will be on streaming soon.
