West Philly Baby is an upcoming AMC drama series inspired by the “Dot” screenplay by Colman Domingo. The series produced by AMC Studios in collaboration with the AllBlk series, explores the life of a Philadelphian family who has to deal with the effects of Alzheimer’s on their family members.
Colman Domingo (Candyman) expressed that the upcoming series holds a lot of dark humor that is crucial for anybody who wants to survive in his world. He also added that he was thrilled to collaborate with the two studios and looks forward to creating more diverse content.

AMC, in collaboration with the AllBlk studios, is yet to give us a specific date of when we should expect the Colman’s series to premiere. The series announcement is over a year, and naturally, you hope the creator has already settled on the show’s filming location, the casting, and when the filming starts. It is hard to know if that is the case for the West Philly series as we are yet to be informed. Since the series plot explores a Philadelphian family, filming might also occur in Philadelphia. You should expect the series to be released by 2024.

The West Philly Baby series will explore childhood traumas, midlife crises, unsettling revelations, and the effects of Alzheimer’s on the American family. The series explores the struggles and wins of a Philadelphia family who are forced to live with the fact that the matriarch’s memory is slowly being crippled. As if that is not enough, they soon unravel deadly secrets that have been kept hidden for too long, secrets that threaten to break their family. Colman, the writer, expressed that the series was straight from his heart and is a letter to all black families.
West Philly, Baby Season 1 Cast: Who will be in?
Colman Domingo is expected to write, direct, and produce the upcoming West Philly Baby series. Domingo is famous for playing Vicar Strand in the Walking Dead series and has many high-profile TV shows under his belt. He has even featured in the Euphoria series, Candyman remake, and “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
He will not be executively producing the series alone as Alisa Tager will join him, and Sean San Jose will serve as the series story consultant. Brett Dismuke, AllBlk manager, remarked that he is a fan of Colman’s work, and the opportunity to marry ALLBLK and AMC and Colman is a dream come true.

Domingo, the series creator, and AMC are yet to give us the specific release date of the West Philly Baby trailer. The series announcement came in 2021, and the only reason for not getting the trailer is that the series is still in development.
