The Man Who Fell to Earth Season 2: ShowTime Sci-Fi Series Release Date, Cast, Plot, And More Update!

1976 was such a good year with the release of the award-winning Walter Tevis Novel and the iconic Bowie Film. The book fetched many awards, including the New York times and almost 50 years later, the film and the book inspire a sci-fi series on Showtime. Despite the new series being inspired by the novel, it does not exactly give it a straight remake as there are many adjustments.

However, Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek Discovery), the show’s creator, argues that the show will pay tribute to the previous sci-fi story. The first season featured the Alien, Faraday, who arrives on earth amidst the evolution. He has to conform to his past to save himself but is it as easy as it sounds?

The Man Who Fell to Earth Season 2 Release Date:

Has the sci-fi show been renewed for a second season? So far, there is no information on whether the show will be coming back for the second season or not. The first season premiered on 24th April 2022, and as of May, it has a rating of 85% in rotten tomatoes. As far as rating is concerned, there is a high probability that the show’s second season may be back on our screens soon enough.

Despite positive reviews from reviewers, Showtime hasn’t yet revealed a second season for the series. Kurtzman is still looking forward to a second season.

The first season had ten episodes, and if season two is given the green light, it may have the same number or an increase.

The decision to not renew The Man Who Fell To Earth Season 2 has been announced by Showtime. Originally, the creators Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet had conceived the show as a limited series, but this marks a departure from their initial plans. During the production of the first season, it was decided to wrap up the story in a logical manner.

The Man Who Fell to Earth Season 2 Expected Plot:

The series follows Faraday, an alien whose arrival on earth signifies the start of his fight for survival. He comes to the world to warn her occupants of the looming danger of their favorite planet if they do not take action. Back on his planet, the end seems much closer than it did the day before. He meets Justin, the brilliant scientist who is also a struggling mom and together, they have to find a way of eradicating the potential threat. They face huger obstacles, and the two are on the brink of losing their lives while jeopardizing the fate of the two worlds.

The Man Who Fell to Earth Season 2 Cast:

One of the performances that have been lauded by not one but many audiences is the Alien Faraday part, which Chiwetel Ejiofor played. When asked how he managed to play the role so well, he answered that all of the years living as an outsider, a feeling like he did not belong, have finally paid off. Naomi Harris (No Time To Die) plays Justin, the brilliant scientist. Other casts include Billy Nighy as Thomas Newton, Rob Delaney (BirdGirl), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Sonya Cassidy (Soulmate), and Annelly Olaleye (Ted Lasso).

The Man Who Fell to Earth Season 2 Trailer:

A trailer of the series is yet to be released, but in the meantime, you could watch the first season’s trailer on ShowTime if you did not get to watch it. The show also has not fully dropped, and the next episode is expected to descend on 15th May and another after a fortnight. Other similar series like the sci-fi show include Outer Range, Shining Girls, Billy The Kid, Gaslit, The first lady, and The Baby.

The Man Who Fell to Earth Season 1 Recap:

The first season of the show consists of 10 episodes, and it concludes with the season finale titled ‘The Man Who Sold The World’.

In the season finale, we witness Newton and Faraday, in their alien forms, returning to their dying home planet, Antheon, where the atmosphere is collapsing. Newton sets off for Earth, claiming to bring back help. Justin and Faraday confront Newton about his plan to bring only the intellectually superior Adepts from Antheon to Earth, leaving behind the supposedly inferior Drones to perish. This revelation angers Justin and Faraday deeply. Furthermore, Newton hints at his intention to subjugate the human race and replace them with the arriving Adepts from Antheon.

Despite Faraday’s attempts to persuade Newton to reconsider, he remains resolute in leaving the Drones behind on Antheon, believing that bringing them along would lead to Earth’s downfall. Eventually, Faraday manages to make Newton realize his mistakes and hands over control of the spaceship and the fusion generator to him. As Newton had previously taken control of Origen under the alias Thorne, Faraday now finds himself in possession of the company responsible for constructing the fusion generator.

In the final moments of season 1, we fast forward three months to witness Faraday captivating an audience with a compelling talk. However, this time, we know that the alien from Antheon has control of the fusion generator, which has the potential to save Earth in the near future. Drew, defeated, is forced to take a step back. Season 1 concludes with Faraday utilizing Newton’s spaceship to return to Antheon, in the hopes of rescuing the entire population of the dying planet and bringing them back to Earth.

Thus, season 1 comes to an end with the main character, the “Man” who fell to Earth, leaving the planet to return to his home world.
