S.W.A.T. is on the watch list of every police procedural fan. The ending of season three of this primetime Emmy nominated show was not expected to go like this by anyone. The funny thing is, there was no end! Season three of S.W.A.T. ended on a cliffhanger because the final episode could not be produced before the release date due to worldwide lockdown. The story of S.W.A.T. revolves around Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson. Viewers loved his elite Special Weapons and Tactics Unit solving crimes in Los Angeles. S.W.A.T. Season 4 Release Date: When will it premiere?

CBS greenlit season 4 on 6th May 2020, even before season 3 came to an end, so you don’t have to worry about that. S.W.A.T. season 3 aired on CBS on 2nd October 2019, and the show was decided to have 22 episodes. However, season three came to an end after 21 episodes on 20th May 2020. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the filming halted in March 2020; ultimate episode 21 served as the season 3 finale.

Earlier S.W.A.T. was slated to premiere at some point in early 2021. However, S.W.A.T. season 4 was brought forward by CBS and replaced the reality series Survivor. We saw that Aaron Rahsaan Thomas took to Twitter and announced the beginning of filming for season 4. Actors are dedicating a lot of their time to the series, and they are following all the preventive measures. An official date has not been revealed, but we can get a clue from previous release dates. Season 3 of S.W.A.T. began filming in July 2019, and the show was released in October. Keeping this time frame in mind, Production of season 4 initiated in August. If things had been normal, season 4 could have hit the screens in November, but now we expect it to release in 2021.

S.W.A.T. Season 4 Cast: Who is returning?

Shemar Moore will return as Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson to lead his team once again. Other prominent members of the cast include Alex Russell as Jim Street, Lina Esco as Christina ‘Chris’ Alonso, Kenny Johnson as Dominique Luca, and Jay Harrington as David ‘Deacon’ Kay. Other prominent actors of the show will also return; we will have David  Lim as Victor Tan, Patrick St. Esprit as Robert Hicks, and Stephanie Sigman as Jessica Cortez. According to us, all the prominent cast members will return to reprise their roles in the fourth installment.

S.W.A.T. Season 4 Plot: What could happen?

In season three, you saw that Hondo and his team were in hot pursuit of drug smugglers led by Diablo. They succeed in bringing down the criminals’ plane, which crash-landed obviously. The team initiated a door-to-door search, and Diablo and his men shot Chris, but thanks to the bulletproof vest, she was safe. When Diablo was about to reveal something, he got shot by Luca! There are chances that the upcoming season might tell what Diablo was about to say. The finale of season 3 was all set to spotlight the teenager Hondo’s experience with the 1992 L.A. Riots. So the fans Don’t wanna miss that. Makers might include that episode in season 4. 

Considering the current issues of the society, the writers of S.W.A.T. posted on twitter and expressed their views. They encouraged protesters to continue to raise their voices peacefully. They also gave us a hint that they are gonna address these issues in the upcoming season!
