Earlier this year, we gathered that Comedian Richard Lewis was due to some health issues. His shoulder and back operations resisted him from the upcoming 11th season of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. This meant that two of Larry David‘s long-time Curb crew were missing from the new season after the death of Bob Einstein. But a piece of great news comes that Richard Lewis will now appear in one upcoming episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
After all, Richard Lewis returns to “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” After initially stating that he was paused from the show to recover from operations, the comedian and actor announced on Thursday. Still, now he will perform in one of the next episodes.”That’s great news for me,” Lewis tweeted a photo on the “Curb” set. Even though I still recover from three interventions and the lack of Curb’s season 11, Larry David invited me and questioned me if I felt strong enough to do an episode! I’m here to shoot it, and here I’m on the set. I am so thankful.”
Great news for me! Although I’m still recovering from three surgeries and missing Season 11 of Curb, LD called me and asked if there was any chance if I felt strong enough to do one episode!

This update comes three months after the actor of 73 has announced that he will not be back for his last season of the critically acclaimed show. Richard, who plays Curb in a semi-autobiographical way, revealed he left the improvisational comedy show led by Larry David because of his health. At first, in season 11, Lewis was scheduled to be present in six episodes and reverted to three surgeries. Three weeks ago, he said that Lewis was making “great strides” and wanted to go home. He said that Larry had been holding tabs on him throughout his hospitalizations.
“I felt like a million bucks as I walked in and applauded,” said Lewis. Larry doesn’t like hugging, and after we shot our scene, he hugged me and told me he was happy. ” The cast and crew were not the only ones who were excited to see Lewis on the scene. His Twitter was welcomed by fans and celebrities, including the co-stars J.B. Smoove (Harley Quinn) who had said, “Hey Bud!! He was very happy with his comeback. Would you like to work today! You look great! I love it already!!”
Although he recovered from surgery and was treated five times a week for physical therapy, Lewis said that he felt great and was snapped in the groove when he was set in. Lewis says that he’s been shooting for two days, but he’s worked with David, Cheryl Hines, and Susie Essman so far. In the coming days, he expects to see Smoove and the rest of the cast. This first day, I’m proud, and I hope that it continues,” said Lewis. “I’m still delighted I’ll be part of the 11th season. I’ve been so exhilarating to be there.”
Lewis, who knew David all over his life and has been working on this show for over 20 years, is thankful for being part of something so special like “Curb.” Lewis said: “Over the last almost 27 years, I have devoted my life to comedy and my sobriety.” “I have been overwhelmed by joy. For more than a minute, I never learned how to rejoice in my head, but today I break all records.”
HBO announced last June to the disappointment of creator/star David that he had renewed a loved comedy show for its 11th season. “I am as sad as you are, believe me,” he said in a statement. “I can only hope one day that HBO will come to its senses and give me a chance that I deserve.” Hopefully, we are expecting to get season 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm as soon as possible in this Covid thing.
