According to a source who spoke to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears have traded for wide receiver Chase Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Claypool, 24, was selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He had 42 catches for 736 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.
The Bears will send a 2021 fifth-round draft pick to the Steelers in exchange for Claypool, the source said.
Claypool has one year remaining on his four-year, $7.6 million contract. He is due to make $1.9 million in base salary in 2021.
The Bears have been looking to add a playmaker at wide receiver this offseason. They signed former Pro Bowl wide receiver Pierre Garcon in free agency and also drafted wide receiver Darnell Mooney in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
