HBO has been home to some of the most famous sports shows, like Being Serena, a sports drama documentary first released in 2018 and has garnered a decent number of votes on Rotten Tomatoes. New on the charts is the newly Released series Winning Time, the American drama series based on a book by Jeff Pearlman.
The series focuses on The Lakers Club, one of the most acclaimed basketball clubs ever to exist, and it was only a while before it got its show. The first season told of how the club came to exist, how it rose to fame, and of course, the controversies along the way. With only six episodes out, the series has managed a rating of 7.7/10 on IMDB and as impressive as the numbers are, will there be a second season?

If you enjoy watching the first season, which is yet to drop all its episodes, then the news of the show’s renewal will be worth a celebration. HBO recently greenlit the series for a second installment and despite them not announcing when the show will premiere, at least we are aware something is cooking in the oven already.
The first season debuted on March 6th, 2022 and since the series has been released weekly on HBO na, the final episode is expected to be out by May 8th. If the production plans go as smoothly, we should expect the second season in 2023.

The show is a Jeff Pearlman adaptation of his book Showtime, released in 2014. The show delves deeply into how the club came to be, how it started, the humble beginning, the owners, and the players that contributed to the show’s success. It also focuses on all the famous personalities that joined the team after a while, like Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Riley, the styles of play that led to the show being one of the famous basketball clubs in Los Angeles. A lineup of the second season is yet to be released, but since the first season is yet to be fully released, this may take a while.

The show is packed with notable casts, including Adrien Brody (Chapelwaite), Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Jason Segal, and Brutt Cullen. At the head of the series, casting is John C. Reilly (Moonbase), the actor famous for acting in series like Chicago and Walk Hard, and he plays the role of Jerry Buss, Lakers owner. Other casts include Hardley Robinson, Tamera Tomakili, DeVaughn Nixon, Rob Morgan, Sally Field, Julianne Nicholson (The Outsider), and DR. Solomon Hughes. With the series renewal for a second season, we expect all of them to be back.
