Dwayne Johnson discloses a new release date of his upcoming DC Universe project ‘Black Adam‘ on his Instagram and Twitter, which is now scheduled to air on July 29, 2022.
Johnson’s producing partner, Hiram Garcia, posted the video on Instagram displaying digital screens in Times Square of New York City that co-occur with the release date. This news appeared for a short time on TBS and was unveiled just before the NCAA men’s basketball tournament game between Alabama and UCLA.
Black Adam narrates the story of one of the DC superhero Shazam’s ancestors and is seen in comics as an archenemy of Shazam and a villain who struggles to rescue himself after the destruction of the universe for thousands of years.
Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone will also feature in the DC superhero movie. In the teaser, Johnson promised that Black Adam would surely change “the hierarchy of power in the DC universe.”
Additionally, Warner Bros. is going to release the movie on the same weekend. This studio also listed the July 2022 slate with “Minions,” “Black Panther,” and “Fantastic Beasts,” sequels, including Candyman producer Jordan Peele’s unnamed horror movie.
Dwayne’s Black Adam will be launched under a new contract with Regal Cinemas, which ensures 45 days of exclusively theatrical beginning in the upcoming year for all Warner Bros. theatrical premieres. This agreement appears after the studio opted to release all of its 2021 movie projects in theaters and HBO Max. Moreover, Regal will also premier all the studio’s films in theatres that release this year.
Already, Disney is going to release Indiana Jones’s 5th installment next year on July 29.
