Jacob Turner, the best-selling novelist of The Final Midnight, hasn’t returned home in almost two decades since his spiritually ill mother drove him out as a teenager. His mother died last week, and he finds out from the lawyer handling her estate while he goes about his normal life as a successful author a few days before Christmas. Twenty years after leaving, Jacob returns to the home he shared with his violent mother, partly to take possession of the house she left him and to think about the painful memories they evoked.
A lady named Rachel, who is also seeking the estate, greets him at Turner’s house. Rachel is the nanny’s daughter, who has been looking for her mother for some time. After realizing that his father is still alive, Jacob and Rachel begin on a mission to seek the realities of their history and repair the scars that slice deep into their conscience.
