Several shows are getting their spinoff, and The Boondocks is not one to be left out. The show premiered from 2004 to 2014, where it wrapped up with four seasons and a total of 55 episodes. Over ten years, the show had a style of what could be termed as funny, witty, and a bit of Kungfu style, earning it the title of one of the greatest animes show America has ever seen.
Recently it was announced that the Aaron McGruder series was getting a reboot but almost close to two years after the first announcement, we are yet to receive factual information on the series development. The satirical show, The Boondocks which depicts a dysfunctional black family, was a prophetic program back as it may have foreseen the Fried Chicken Flu pandemic. However, with the heat going around in the political atmosphere and black Culture criticism, this may be the perfect time for the show’s debut.
The Boondocks Season 1 Release Date: When will it be out?
The first information about the Boondocks reboot was in 2019, and the series was announced to premiere on Sony come 2022. Later HBO added it to its list of upcoming shows, and it is only safe to assume that covid took part in the delay of the 12-episode series. A year later, in 2022, TV Line wrote that the series would be premiering in 2021 which was also pushed to 2022. We hope that the information already out is solid enough this time around, and we won’t need to hear another postponement of the release date.
The Boondocks Season 1 Cast: Who can be in it?
It has already been confirmed that McGruder will be back as the series showrunner, but we could expect a change in the series casting with the series reboot. Regina King, who played Rile and Huey in the original comedy series, may not act the roles. John Witherspoon voiced Grandad’s role, Gary Anthony portrayed Uncle Ruckus, positions that may be switched or changed once the casting lineup is out. An announcement made by Witherspoon confirming the reboot of The Boondocks on The Joe, Reagan Experience makes fans wonder if he will be appearing as one of the casts. After his death a year later, it is evident he won’t b back to see the series premiere.
The Boondocks Season 1 Plot: What will happen?
The original plot is based on the adventures of Riley and Huey, two children who have to undergo a massive culture shock when they move from their home to live in the suburbs with their grandpa. Situated in Woodcrest, the granddad became the legal guardian of the two young boys, and they have to fight against the rule put up by uncle Ruckus and the community government at large. The manga will get an upgrade in the upcoming series, but it is expected to employ the same storyline. The granddad and the kids will relocate to Maryland, where they will have to live under the rules of Uncle Ruckus. Since the comic was more like a mirror in the periods it premiered, we expect it to correspond with the latest stuff that has been happening.
