“If Only,” the Turkish series announcement came early in 2020, but the development did not go as expected. Netflix had to cancel the series after the Turkish government failed to give the channel the permit to go ahead with the filming.
Nine months after the series cancellation, Netflix announced that the series would be getting a Spanish version, and the creator Ece Yorenc teamed up with Irma Correa to develop the series. The series was initially set to cover a gay character, but they had to adopt a completely different plot after Netflix’s cancellation. The following is everything we know about the upcoming Turkish show.
If Only Season 1 Release Date:
Despite the initial series cancellation, Netflix has already revealed that the series will be available for streaming come October 28th, 2022. So far, we do not know how many episodes the series will have, and we will have to wait for the creator and Chanel to update us before the series premiere.
If Only Season 1 Plot:
The Turkish series explores the life of Emma, a woman who realizes she is stuck in situations she cannot escape. The 3O-year-old has been married to Nando for ten years, but it is one of the most unhappy marriages as there is no love between them. She is unhappy with her marriage and how her life turned for the worst, family-wise and generally.
Emma keeps wishing that somebody would turn back time and she would go to the free-spirited woman she once was before marrying Nando. Just like that, a lunar eclipse and a time error send her back ten years younger. She is back in 2008, 20 years old, and is given a chance to reflect on what she wants, knowing well how her future has already turned out.
If Only Season 1 Cast:
The If Only series was created by Ece Yorenc, and she is also expected to produce the series executively. She is a famous screenwriter and has written several other TV shows, including Brave and Beautiful (Cesur ve Guzel) and Heart of The City (Bu Sehir Arkandan Gelecek).
Irma Correa will also act as both the show’s creator and Showrunner. Megan Montaner, the critically acclaimed Spanish actress, will be playing Emma, the woman who is unhappy and frustrated in her marriage. She is a fast-rising actress and has acted as the lead star in series like The Hunt. Miquel Fernandez is set to play Nando, Emma’s fiancée. Other casts include Jael Pascual, Bore Buika, and Eduardo Lovers.

Despite Netflix publicly announcing the series’s release date, the trailer is still yet to be released. The series has been slated for an October 28th, 2022, release date, and we should expect the series trailer to be released in a week or two. Once the series trailer is released, it will be accessible on either Netflix or YouTube.
