Netflix boasts of some of the top comedy shows in the entertainment industry, including shows like BoJack Horseman and Community. This series already has six seasons and is still counting. To expand their comedy content, they recently green-lit Survival for the Thickest, a dramedy show that explores the life of Marvis, a single parent who faces a life crisis.
The upcoming series is based on an autobiography by Michelle Buteau, and she will develop the series in collaboration with the A24 and Netflix studios. Buteau has worked in many comedy shows, including The First Wives Club and Always Be My Maybe. Here is everything we know about Survival of the Thickest.
Survival of the Thickest Season 1 Release Date: When will it air?
Unfortunately, we do not know when The Survival for The Thickest series will be released, but most likely, it will be premiering in 2023. Filming started on September 26th and is expected to continue until November 20th. The eight episodes, thirty minutes run time series will then go into post-production, and if we are lucky enough, it might be released in early 2023.
Survival of the Thickest Season 1 Plot: What will happen?
The upcoming series will be based on Michelle Buteau’s book of the same name. It explores the life of Mavis Beaumont, a black plus-sized woman raising her kids alone. She has always put her legs in one basket, having too much faith that nothing can ever go wrong. She is, however, surprised when she learns that life has its way of proving us wrong, and she is forced to rebuild her life from scratch after her initial plan fails to work. Learning to rebuild her life again, she vows to survive the whole deal, but first, she needs her family’s support. A positive attitude, just the perfect shade of lip gloss, and a cute V-neck will do the trick.
Survival of the Thickest Season 1 Cast: Who will appear?
The only cast we know so far is the beautiful Michelle Buteau, and she will be playing Mavis Beaumont, the black single mom on her way to rebuilding her life. Other characters expected to join the casting include Tone Bell and Tasha. Bell will be playing Khalil, Mavis’s best friend since high school. He is described as a simple man who does not complicate life. His stance on not complicating life, however, changes when he starts questioning if complicating life for those who deserve it is wrong. Smith will be playing the self-made millionaire used to the posh life.
Survival of the Thickest Season 1 Trailer: When can we watch it?
The Survival of the thickest trailer is yet to be released, and considering the production schedule, it won’t be coming to our screens anytime soon. Filming is expected to go until November, and it might be too farfetched to expect a trailer before the year ends.
A teaser or trailer of the dramedy might be released in 2023. In the meantime, you can watch other series Michelle has featured. First Wives Club, a dramedy on Hulu, is the best series to binge on if you want to reconnect with the funny side of Michelle. Other shows she has featured include; The Principles of Pressure, The Comedy Lineup, and Weekend.
