Netflix is poised to release a biopic drama based on the life of popular Mexican-American singer and songwriter Selena Quintanilla. Titled “Selena The Series,” the show will focus on the star’s childhood, her struggle for fame, and the situations surrounding her early demise. The show was written and produced by Moises Zamora, and co-produced by Selena’s family members. Work on this project was first broached in 2018, and viewers will surely fall in love with the series. Selena’s will be played by the popular Walking Dead actress, Christian Serratos.
For those who do not know, Selena Quintanilla was a singer, actress, and fashion designer who rose to fame in the late 80s and 90s fondly referred to as the ‘Queen of Tejano Music’. She is one of the notable Mexican-American artists of the 20th century. She won many laurels, including Grammy award, BMI awards, and many more. However, she lived a very short but impactful life, dying at the age of 23 due to a gunshot to the chest.
This biographical series comes over 20 years later when a similar biographical feature on the star was done, starring Jenifer Lopez as Selena.
Selena: The Series Season 1 Release Date: When will it premiere?
Netflix officially announces the date Selena: The Series. It is all set to hit on Netflix on December 4, 2020. The two-part scripted show will release with the First Part, starting off with six one-hour episodes.

Selena: The Series Season 1 Expected Plot: What will happen?
Selena The Series has been described as a coming of age flick that follows the music star’s life and times. It examines each stage in her life as she makes the choices that brought her to the limelight.
Of course, the show will examine Selena’s life when she was a child, the rejection and derision she gets when started singing in the Tejano genre, her relationship with her family and friends, especially her fatal friendship with Yolanda Saldivar.
The series will be in two parts; the first part will contain six episodes, one hour long each.

The cast ensemble includes,
- Christian Serratos, the Walking Dead star, stars as Selena.
- Ricardo Chavira, famous for his role in Desperate Housewives, acts as Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father.
- Gabriel Chavarria (The Purge) as Selena’s brother AB Quintanilla.
- Noemí Gonzalez (The Young and the Restless) stars as Selena’s Sister, Suzette.
- Seidy López (American Family) plays Selena’s mother.
- Madison Taylor Baez acts as young Selena.
Other actors include Paul Rodriguez, Jr. (Professional Skateboarder and actor), Julio Macias (On My Block), David Barrera (Bosch) Jesse Posey (Stitchers).
