Netflix has canceled the renewal of the sci-fi drama ‘Away’ season 2, six weeks after its first season. It seems that we will never be able to find out what happened on Mars after the crew landed.
What Happened in Season 1?
Hilary Swank is portrayed as an astronaut Emma Green, who guides the first crew of Mars in the spacecraft called the Mars Joint Initiative. She was looking after herself as she had left her husband and daughter for this mission when they needed her most.
As the crew’s journey into space escalates, their emotional mobility, and the impact of being away from their family becoming sharply complicated.
Green manages an international team with experts from China, Russia, India, and the UK; they all are specialists in their areas. After hearing her solution to the problem at the beginning of the mission, some crew members did not trust her leadership, causing tension among them.
Why was its Renewal Canceled?
We don’t yet know exactly why the show has been canceled. Rather It was a hit show on Netflix.
The ten-episode series Away performed very well among the US audience. The Universal TV-produced series was ranked in September’s Top 10 series of streamers. As per its Netflix rankings, the show remained at No. 1 for many days after its premiere.
The main reason for its revival cancellation is that Netflix analyzed the series cost and its global audience.
Production and Season 1 Cast:
Universal Television produced this science fiction series, and Chris Jones Esquires’ article inspired Andrew Hinderaker to create this show ‘Away.’ The executive producers are Hinderaker, Swank, showrunner Jessica Goldberg, Jason Katims, Matt Reeves, Edward Zwick, Adam Kassan, and Jeni Mullein. Will Bates gave the music.
Apart from Swank, the rest of the cast are seen in the show: Josh Charles, Vivian Wu, Mark Ivanir, Ato Essandoh, Ray Panthaki, and Talitha Bateman.
All recently canceled shows by Netflix are Glow, Teenage Bounty Hunters, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Altered Carbon, The Society. The space drama series Away also joins this list.
