He moved to Los Angeles to extend his career shortly after that. His first important appearance in the 1976 horror movie “Carrie.” The ABC television show “Welcome Back Kotter” also played Vinnie Barbarino (1975-79).
Travolta enjoyed considerable popularity on- and off-screen over the next few years in the 1970s and early 1980s for his music. In July 1976, he had a hit track, “Let her In.” on Billboard Hot 100 chart. He has performed in many movies, including Saturday Night Fever (1977), Grease(1978), and Urban Cowboy (1980). Travolta was drafted for the Academy Award for Best Actor as one of the youngest to have attained this honor at age 24 for his Saturday Night Fever role.
Decline and Return:
The ’80s turned out to be a series of reversals after the momentum he achieved in the 1970s. His movies Two of a Kind (1983) and Perfect (1985) were financial and critical failures, and while it was a commercial hit – over $65 million, in 1983, a sequel to Saturday Night Fever – the critics were impressed.
Despite these losses, Travolta claimed the victory in 1989 with the $297 million Look Who’s Talking, his most profitable film after Grease. He confirmed his resurgent A-list status with a nominated appearance in Quentin Tarantino’s pulp fiction (1994). The 1990s have been a fruitful time for Travolta with a rise in film offerings. He made great movies from that time, such as Get Shorty (1995), Face/Off (1997), and ACA (1998).
In 2000 he was an actor with many films, including Swordfish, Ladder 49 (2004), Be Cool (2005), Lonely Hearts (2006), Wild Hogs (2007), and Old Dogs. In his first musical since Grease, he has starred in the 2007 Hairspray remake as Edna Turnblad.
Travolta also pursued new styles of ventures away from its conventional positions during this time. In 2008, he presented the animated movie Bolt as the title of character and contributed to the 2005 documentary Glorious Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D. His pet idea, which he acted in both the science-fiction film Battlefield Earth and co-produced, was also undertaken in 2000. The film was based on L. Ron Hubbard’s novel of the same name, a dream project for Travolta since it was first published in 1982 after Hubbard had written personally to him asking him to help adapt the film.
The acting programs of Travolta have been largely restricted to action types and thrillers since 2010. His works dating back to this time include Savages (2012), and Killing Se (2016). He has also been a performer and executive producer of Illegal Acts (2015) and Gotti (2018).

John Travolta Social Appearance:
3 Lessons from John Travolta & From the Film ‘Grease’
Get a look at some of his lectures and the movie ‘Grease’ Lessons.
1. Toxic Masculinity is Not Where it’s At
The T-Birds are an embodiment of poisonous manhood. This musical high school is full of toxic masculinity. Danny must pretend that Sandy never met before, as she wants to say hello to him so that he doesn’t seem like a proper wimp and might have feelings.
Many boys treat women as conquests, and there are seriously dangerous lyrics in rape culture, such as: ‘Tell me more / Did she have a fight?’
2. Slut-Shaming is Not Cool
Rizzo doesn’t let her waste her life with her terrifying pregnancy. When Rizzo claims she mistakenly got pregnant, she goes to school to become a social pariah; the mean children laugh at her in school, gossip, and turn their backs on it.
Rather than encourage the slut-shaming to infiltrate her healthy skin, Rizzo sings about how she loves a safe sex life, how patriarchal double expectations are put on women, and how she does not want to be a passive housewife in the 1950s.
3. Fashion is Powerful
The outfits are iconic in this film, especially the Jackets of Pink Ladies. Grease shows the strength of uniformity to create a common identity that truly is the same for all. Mess with one of them, and then one will mess with all of them.
