Also known as Goblin, The Korean TV series was written by Kim Eun Sook and directed by Yoon Jong Ho, Kwon Hyuk Chan and Lee Eung Bok. The series was aired from 2016 to 2017. The reception was enormous, and the huge following made it branded the third highest-rated drama in Korean history. The first season had 16 episodes, and its success is what gives hope that season 2 will be renewed.

The series begins by introducing Kim Shin, a general whose responsibility is to protect souls. The grim Reaper is his landlord and guides souls after their host bodies die. Kim is apparently tired of being immortal and sets out on a journey to find a human bride who has the power to end his life. On another note, Kim’s fated lover, Ji-Eun-Tak, is still a high school student and is very optimistic despite her challenges. Soon, Kim and Ji Eun meet and fall in love. Grim Reaper also gets attracted to Sunny and the lives of these four love birds take various complications and unpredictable situations.
Guardian: The Lonely and Great God season 2 Release Date:
The first season was aired in December 2016, and the large reception gives us hope that season 2 will be renewed. We have waited for three years for the season 2 release. However, we are yet to get any official statement about its launch. Fans had hoped that the show would be released in 2020, but the current global Coronavirus pandemic has faded all the hopes. We can only wait patiently.
Undoubtedly, this is one of the most popular Korean dramas of all time. And they still want to know if there will be another season. When Gong Yoo stated his thoughts on the ending, people were pretty certain that the show would be renewed. “Your ‘Guardian’ days aren’t gone yet,” he added. I was under the impression that the drama was over. I’m quite concerned.”
Fans are hoping for a Season 2 after hearing this news. However, it has already been confirmed that ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ will not see a sequel. “Sad to hear there will be no Season 2 to happen,” Gong Yoo tweeted in 2017. Some stories are better left unfinished.”
