The satirical comedy takes a more anthological approach and spoofs nonfiction documentaries into comedic mockumentaries.

Documentary Now! Season 4 Plot: What can it be About?
Hellen Mirren hosts the show, and the series takes a humorous take on documentary films by parodying each Documentary’s style. The parody is more similar to the original but takes a more fictitious subject than the original. It presents a long-running news magazine for documentaries, and Mirren appears at the beginning of each episode, introducing what the audience is about to binge on.

The Documentary Now has several casts, but some of the main ones constant throughout the seasons are Hellen Mirren, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader. Mirren is a known actress with exceptional performance skills and has even received the Triple Crown of Acting.
