THE DICKINSON, Apple TV+ historical TV show, has been under work even before the first season was released, as Apple TV+ ordered for the second season’s production before the first episode was aired. The series puts a modern twist to the famous American Poet Emily Dickinson. The show takes viewers into the times and era in which Emily Dickinson lived, while adventurously exploring the norms of the society she lived in. The expected roles of her gender and the influence family on the budding writer who doesn’t fit into her period. The show has been nominated for its outstanding comedy at the 31st Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Also, the series clinched the Peabody Award for Entertainment, making it the first show from Apple TV+ to win such honor.
Dickinson Season 2 Release Date :
Hailee Steinfeld herself confirmed the renewal news last year. Even though the production task is complete, no official announcement has been mentioned for the release date yet. Maybe it may face a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, Sources are saying that Dickinson season 2 will release on Apple TV+ in late 2020.
The Dickinson Season 2 Plot :
The story’s crux follows Emily Dickinson during her teenage years, against the suppression and oppression of society. Desperate to be heard, and she fights against every odds to express herself for her poetry to be published. Running from her mother always trying to marry her off, and her father, who is obstinately against her ambition, Emily faces various challenges, including her love for her best friend Sue, who’s set to marry her elder brother.
Dickinson successfully brought the 19th-century era to life, with vintage costumes, which adds an air of authenticity to the series. Throughout the episodes, we were given clips of Dickinson’s poems as the process through which she pens them down, which is a lovely, original touch to the drama. The show received good reviews, with Metacritic, which gave it an average, assigned a 66% score based on 29 critics. Rotten Tomatoes also delivered a 74% approval rating.

Despite this, the second season will follow the plot of the first season. It will focus on Emily’s fame or abhorrence of fame. It will reveal why Emily did not publish her poems before her demise. You have already been shown the fact that her father is against her publishing the poems. However, this season will highlight her profound conflicting relationship to fame. We will see more of her poems about her refusing fame. Season two will also shape and develop the character of persona ‘Emily Dickinson’.
