Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., famously known as DDG, is an American Rapper. He is an all-rounder artist, as he has enjoyed the status of a YouTube celebrity, composed music and is still exploring other entertainment sectors. DDG Career:

DDG started his music interest when he was a child; he composed music in a studio where his father worked. DDG’s early music includes the “Big Boat” track for Lil Yachty. In 2016, at 19, he released two songs named “Balenciagas” and “Free Parties.” Zaytoven produced both songs.

Further, DDG teamed up with Famous Dex for the song “Lettuce.” This track was initially released on DDG’s YouTube channel and, within an hour, had 500,000 views. Major Record labels contacted him right after Lettuce’s release; in June 2018, he signed a record deal with Epic Records. Later, in 2020, DDG founded his record label ‘Zooted Music’ along with longtime managers Eric O’Connor and Dimitri Hurt. On 23rd November 2017, DDG released a single, “Givenchy,” which was one of his debut EP, ‘Take Me Seriously.’ On YouTube, “Givenchy” received 25 million plus views. Later on 17th March 2018, he released Take Me, Serious. 

On 1st June 2018, DDG released a single, “Arguments,” which was later certified Gold by the RIAA on 15th April 2020. On 22nd March 2019, he released his second EP, Sorry 4 the Hold-Up. DDG released a music video for one of the songs, “Hold Up,” from the EP. The video featured Queen Naija, and on YouTube, it received around 15 million views. On 20th September 2019, DDG released “Push,” the first single of his debut album, Valedictorian, and this album was released on 1st November 2019. 

On 24th July 2020, He released another single, “Moonwalking in Calabasas,” which was later given two remixes. The first remix featured  Blueface, and the second featured YG. This single of DDG was his first song to enter the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at 82. On 3rd June 2021 was certified platinum. 

On 26th February 2021, DDG and OG Parker (recording producer) released the single “Money Long” featuring 42 Dugg. Further, the same year on 19th March, DDG and OG Parker released a collaborative mixtape Die 4 Respect, and on the Billboard 200, it peaked at number 61. On 16th June 2021, he was in the tenth spot for the 2021 XXL Freshman List with fan votes. 

On 18th February 2022, DDG released a single, “Elon Musk,” which featured Gunna (an American rapper). According to an Interview with Complex music, this single was approved to DDG’s admiration for the multi-billionaire business capitalist and entrepreneur Elon Musk and their similar interests in traveling in space. In March 2022, DDG became the first rapper to travel and film a music video in space (off-planet).
