With his recent speaking with GQ, Christian Bale revealed that several of his most notable performances were roles that Leonardo DiCaprio rejected. “Oh, dude. It’s not just me. Look, to this day, any role that anybody gets, it’s only because he’s [DiCaprio] passed on it beforehand,” Christian said. “It doesn’t matter what anyone tells you, and it doesn’t matter how friendly you are with the directors,” the actor continued.

Christian says that most of the roles he gets are already offered to Leonardo DiCaprio. There has always been an unspoken rivalry between the two Hollywood heartthrobs for the unversed. Once, The Dark Knight actor’s publicist revealed that Christian often lost roles to DiCaprio.

Christian credited his success to DiCaprio by saying, “So, thank you, Leo, because literally, he gets to choose everything he does,” he then concluded. “And good for him, he’s phenomenal.”

One role in particular that DiCaprio declined was of the serial killer Patrick Bateman in the horror film American Psycho (2000). When DiCaprio parted ways with the project, Christian was able to step into the role, which later helped him to mainstream success.
