Not everybody has the luxury to achieve justice, especially for a black man in the corrupt Chicago system, as depicted in the new crime series 61st Street. Moses has everything going well for him until he gets arrested as an alleged gang member, and things start spiraling. Written by Peter Moffat, the British screenwriter and executively produced by Michael Jordan, the series tells a story that is too relatable and has been tackled in many crime drama series. Will Moses ever get justice, or will it be another cat and mouse game with the judicial system?
61st Street Season 2 Release Date: When will it be out?
Higher-rated shows usually have a better chance of being renewed for the second season, and a rating of 6.1/10 on IMDB is good enough to secure us another renewal. But unfortunately, after the first season of “61st Street” was shot, AMC decided to cancel it. The cancellation is related to cost-cutting measures the channel is taking.
61st Street Season 2 Cast: Who will appear?
The Emmy award winner Courtney B. Vance is famous for acting lawyer roles in plays like The People vs. O.J Simpson plays Franklin Roberts. He boasts of not one but two Emmy awards which justifies the world-class performance he put in the series’ first season. He is married to Martha Roberts (Lovecraft Country star- Aunjanue Ellis) and represents Moses Johnson (Tosin Cole), the series protagonist who gets himself involved in the unjust Chicago system. Other casts include Bentley Greene playing Joshua Johnson, Holt McCallan (Mindhunter) as Lt. Tardelli, Andrene Ward as Norma Johnson and Jerid Haynes as Big Phil. If the legal drama series gets greenlit for the second season, we should expect all of the actors to reprise their roles.
61st Street Season 2 Plot: What should fans expect from second installment?
The series follows Moses Johnson, The Black high school athlete who seemingly has a bright future ahead of him, but there are misfortunes in store for him, unbeknown to him. His dream of becoming one of the most famous athletes goes bleak after he gets tangled in the corrupt Judicial system of Chicago—arrested on suspicion of being one of the most infamous gangs.
The police and the prosecutors are hell-bent on seeking revenge for one of them who lost his life during the drug bust, making it worse for Moses. His arrest, however, may be a blessing in disguise for Franklin Roberts, the public defender who has just promised his wife to retire earlier but changed his mind when he hears of Moses’ malady. This might be the chance he needs to right all wrongs and write off all the injustices and racist proceedings that have gone on for too long.
