The Unorthodox creator Anna Winger and Netflix are teaming up to develop the Transatlantic series based on The Flight Portfolio, the award-winning novel by Julie Orringer. The series is set in 1940 and will explore Marseilles’ events, adventures, and crises. The upcoming series will mark the first project created under the Winger and Netflix deal, as they have officially been authorized to keep producing more international drama and shows for Netflix. They did quite well with the Unorthodox series, and it is only natural that Netflix would want to keep working with them. Here is everything we know about the upcoming Transatlantic series.
Transatlantic Season 1 Release Date: When will it be out?
The series filming began in March in Marseille, but so far, we have yet to be updated on when the series will be released. We are unsure if the series is still in development, if filming is still undergoing, or if it is in its preproduction stage. The Deadline reported that the series is expected to release in 2023, but a specific month has yet to be set. Since the series is being shot in three languages; English, French, and German, it is only normal that the production or filming process might take a while. Our prediction is that the series will be released in mid-2023.
Transatlantic Season 1 Plot: What will happen?
The upcoming series is based on real events of the Emergency Rescue Team that risked their lives to save a lot of refugees. It is based on Julie Orringer’s novel that starts by telling the story of Varian Fry, a man who carries a lot of dollars and heads to Marseilles. He also carried a list of other artists he thought he would help save. It, however, turned out more challenging than he thought it would as he went ahead and spent a whole year working on the documents that would get the artists and the writers to escape. He also arranged for the refugee’s escape plan while racing against time and the possibility that they could meet their death at any time.
Transatlantic Season 1 Cast: Who will be in?
The Transatlantic Cast came in March 2022, and Gillian Jacobs (Minx), Cory Michael (Anne With An E), Delilah Piasko, Corey Stoll, Gregory Montel, Ralph Amoussou, and Amit Rahav are expected to star in the series. Jacobs has featured in other series, including Community, and she will play Mary Jayne, the American heiress. Michael from Gotham will play Oscar, Piasko’s (Boys) role is yet to be announced, and Stoll will play Patterson, the American Consul. Montel, famous for featuring in the Netflix series Call My Agent, is yet to be given a specific role together with Amoussou, famous for featuring in the Netflix show Marianne. Unorthodox actor Rahav has yet to receive his specific role, but all of this will be unveiled in time.

The series is still in its production stage; therefore, at the moment, a trailer is yet to be released. We will, however, update the trailer immediately after it comes out.
