As soon as the season 2 ended abruptly, the TV network CBS, in May 2020 announced the renewal of a third season for the family sitcom The Neighborhood. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in break-in activities, the show may take longer before it comes to the TV screens. All things being equal the series should return to the TV screens by 2021. 

The comedy show’s ratings have been declining since the release of the second season, but dedicated fans are sticking with the show. Rotten Tomatoes revealed the series had a 24% rating, with an average of 4.31/10 from 17 reviewers. Metacritic also gave the show 50% rating based on eight reviewers. Written by Jim Reynolds, who also produced and wrote the famous sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.

The Neighborhood Season 3 Plot: What will happen?

The series follows a white man Dave Johnson and his family, who moved to Los Angeles from Michigan. They are shocked but undeterred that their home is located within a black neighbourhood. Dave finally recognise that fitting into the community will be more complex than expected, but he needs the help of his next-door neighbour, Calvin to make his family stay in the neighbourhood a successful one.

Another reason the show is coming late according to the series producer Jim Reynolds is the plot. He informed that the show didn’t want to include the Covid-19 period in the show. However, when the issue of George Floyd’s death brought to the fore Black Lives Matter Movement, the producer believed it was an appropriate topic for the show to address. Show star, Cedric the Entertainer, confirms this saying: our show is mainly about a white family moving into a majorly Black neighbourhood, and how people have to learn to love and understand each other. He concluded saying: “We felt it was more interesting to talk about the racism and policing problem in America.”

The Neighborhood Season 3 Release Date: When will it air?

The definite air date has not been announced by CBS, however rumor has it, we can expect the new season earliest November this year.
