Series based on serial killers are only entertaining until you realize they are based on real stories, not just some made-up work of fiction. One such serial killer story is The Long Shadow, a series by ITV that will tell the story of Peter Sutcliffe. Peter Sutcliffe, famously known as The Yorkshire Ripper, has gone down in history for murdering more than 13 women and attempting to kill seven others.
Sutcliffe initially preyed on women in their homes but soon shifted to the most vulnerable ones; the prostitutes on the streets. The serial killer lived in Bradford, but the Bradford Council has declined any production in the area, saying they do not want to honor his horrendous activities. The following is every information in regards to the upcoming series.
The Long Shadow Season 1 Release Date: When will it be out?
So far, we do not know when the serial killer series will be out, but judging by the fact that the series received an order recently, the possible timeline for the release is by 2023. The series filming is expected to occur at a suburban house in Yorkshire.
He was also in Bradford and made most of his killings in Leeds, and filming has already started in the Leeds area. Fleming was initially to take place in Bradford, where the serial killer lived.
Still, the Bradford council has prohibited any production in the Bradford area as they do not want to glorify the serial killer’s actions. If the crime drama series‘s production process goes as smoothly, you should expect to see the series soon enough.
The Long Shadow Season 1 Plot: What will happen?
The series’ plot follows the life of Peter Sutcliffe, a serial killer who was found guilty of murdering 13 women in cold blood in the 1970s and 80s. He committed most of his kidnapping in Leeds but killed three women; Patricia Atkinson, Yvonne Pearson, and Barbara Leach, in Bradford, an area he lived in.
The serial killer was also found guilty of attempting to murder seven other women, which brings the number of his crimes to 20. The upcoming series will focus more on the murder victims; how life was and is after their loved ones were murdered, and the effects the investigation had on them
The Long Shadow Season 1 Cast: Who will be in?
The series cast came early, and some of the casts present are established names in the crime industry. Katherine Kelly (Criminal:UK), the English actress featured in series like Coronation Street, will star as Emily Jackson, Sutcliffe’s second victim. She is not new to the crime drama world, and we expect her to put a commendable performance as she did in series like Liar and Cheat.
Another big name in the series is Charley Webb, the soap star famous for her character as Debby Dingle in Emmerdale. Spotted wearing a police uniform, the wisest guess is that the actress will be starring as a detective or a police officer, details that are yet to be confirmed. ITV is yet to announce any additional cast, but we will update you once they do.
The Long Shadow Season 1 Trailer: When will it be out?
Filming has only started recently; therefore, we do not have a trailer for the series. It will, however, be available once the series is produced. ITV, however, has new series like The Thief, The Canoe, Holding and Our House that you might find interesting.
