Netflix’s historical series has gotten the nod for another season. The show has expanded a long way since 2015, up until this point, and still satisfying viewers and fans worldwide. The historical show started from the stables of the BBC (Season 1 and 2) but then has been locked up by the streaming service Netflix.

The Last Kingdom Season 5 Release Date: When will it air?
The show’s official Twitter handle @TheLastKingdom revealed on July 7th, 2020, that the show would be coming back. We were shown a video where the King Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) shared the good news with other cast members. However, there has been no definite premiere date for season five. Considering the fact that the show doesn’t follow a similar pattern, we can only guess a possible time for the release of the next season. That guess would be April 2021.

The Last Kingdom Season 5 Plot: What will happen next?
The series follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg as he achieves his destined goal. A Saxon born fighter but raised a Dane. He becomes friends with King Alfred of Wessex, who seeks to unite all the other kingdoms in England under himself as the ruler. We already know that each season of the series follows two series of the novel. Therefore in this season, we expect the series to take on the ninth and tenth series of the book. These are “Warriors of the storm” and “The Flame Bearer.”
A synopsis of the coming season has also been released by Netflix, where it was revealed that: Uhtred has come to the realization that the task at hand is greater than Bebbanburg, but it is of the soul of England. Given the duty of training Aethelstan, King Edward’s son, into becoming a fighter like himself. Achieving destiny for Uhtred will be at a great cost as he has to face his worst enemy and even suffer a great loss.
