We often see series highlighting how people from different social classes struggle to remain in love. Most “rich spouse” families always believe that the other partners are out for their money, even if it is mutual love.
The movies with the same plot are not stopping anytime soon as CBS gave an order for The Emperor of Malibu, a series that will highlight two love birds fighting their families to build the forever home they have always dreamed of. It will be written by Kwan and David Sangalli and be loosely based on one of Kwan’s famous novels, The Crazy Rich Asians.
The Emperor of Malibu Season 1 Release Date: When will it be out?
Currently, there is no release date for the Malibu series, and we do not know when CBS will release it. We also do not know how many episodes will be dedicated to telling the story of the two love birds and their total run time. We expect CBS to keep us in the loop when the series is almost premiering, and this might be sometime in either 2023 or 2024.
The Emperor of Malibu Season 1 Plot: What will happen?
The series plot highlights the lives of two love birds whose love is tested when the family comes in. Willem, an environmental lawyer, is engaged to Kate, his longtime girlfriend, who he loves unconditionally.
He is, however, scared of how their family will react, considering that the two are from different races. However, they get engaged, which is where all hell breaks loose. His billionaire father disapproves of his choice of girlfriend and is determined to do everything in his power to keep the two apart.
The Emperor of Malibu Season 1 Cast: Who will be in?
Kwan and David Sangalli have written the series, and Andy Ackerman is expected to direct the series. The cast announcement of Max Williams came out two years ago as CBS cast him to play the series protagonist. He will play Auggie, a Chinese man who eventually falls for an American woman and has to deal with his toxic family, who are hell-bent on breaking the two up.
Max is famous for starring in College, and since he is regular, we expect him to perform astoundingly. Then be the two sides of the family who will try to separate the two in-laws; therefore, you should expect toxic parents-in-law. At the moment, we only know the series writers, the directors, and the series producers. The series also has two phenomenal women as showrunners; Michele Nader and Christina Lee (Black Summer).
The Emperor of Malibu Season 1 Trailer: When can we watch it?
The Emperor of Malibu trailer is yet to be released by CBS, and at the moment, we are not sure when the series will be available for streaming. Since the Malibu series announcement came out two years ago, the high chances are that the series is still in development or there was a problem while developing the series.
The earliest you should expect the trailer to be released is by 2023 or 2024. In the meantime, you can watch other Kwan works, like the Crazy Rich Asian movie adapted from Kwan’s book. You can watch the series on Netflix without a subscription since it is not locked.
