Who thought the time to say goodbye to the favorite duo would be this soon? Despite the series coming back for the fourth season, it will be back for the final season as Elena and Lilas’s story only had four parts. Francesca Ori, HBO’s executive vice president in charge of programming, had said that they had vowed to tell the duo’s story to its entirety.
Now that it is s coming to an end, they cannot help but recognize how bittersweet it feels. Inspired by a book series by Elena Fellante, the series tells the story of Elena and Lila up to their adulthood, and now that we are at the end of their journey, you do not want to miss season 4.

So far, the fourth season’s release remains a mystery as the third season was released just recently. Despite the series’ fourth season being guaranteed, we will have to wait for official confirmation from the show’s creators. The show’s first season started releasing in 2018, and so far, it is like the series releases a single season everywhere, and if this schedule is put into practice, we will most probably get our fourth and final season in 2023. Season 1 to 3 had eight seasons each, and it does not take a genius to figure that the fourth one will also have eight episodes.

The third season “Those Who Leave and those who Stay,” took place in the 1970s. It told the story of Lila. A young woman who lost contact with all of his relatives, therefore, was forced to live with Enzo in the Naples Outskirts; we saw her work in a factory despite the harsh condition to support her son. Lenu then returned to the old neighborhood to prepare for her marriage to the professor. However, when things did not go as she expected and her novel got rejected, she had to stay in the neighborhood for a while. The fourth season, however, will not develop from where the third season left it but will tell a different story which will follow Lila and Elena into their 60s
My Brilliant Friend Season 4 Cast: Who will be in?
Margherita Mazzucco and Gaia Girace have played Elena a Lila for the past three seasons; however, the showrunner announced that the two would no longer play those roles, and new faces would replace them. Elena will be replaced by Alba Rohwrwacher, the A-lister who has been carrying out most of the voiceovers since the first season.
She will be cast as Old Elena, something that we should have seen coming, considering the final cliffhanger ended with Mazucco looking herself in the mirror and seeing Alba, her older self. Several casts have already made an appearance in the course of the series’ three seasons which is okay as the series follows the two-protagonist through all their life stages. A fourth season will also mean more faces.
