Disney and Pixar are making a coming of age animated feature film. The movie is a fantasy story about a boy named Luca in the Italian Riviera who befriends a sea monster. Academy Award-nominated Enrico Casarosa, director of movies such as the acclaimed short movie La Luna, will be directing the movie, and Andrea Warren will produce it. He is quoted to say that he had a personal connection to the movie, not only because it is set in his hometown but also because of the virtue of friendship which the movie propagates. Luca will be Disney’s 24th totally animated movie, after the release of Onward, which grossed I have a hundred million dollars worldwide before it was transferred to digital platforms.
Details of the movie are still very sketchy, as Disney was forced to release information because of the trademark done on the words LUCA, the movie’s title, and ISOLA DEL MARE, which translates to mean Sea Island. However, we expect Disney to divulge more information as the year comes to a close.
Luca Cast: Who will be in?
The details of cast members in the coming movie has not been published yet, although one of the cast members have been possibly identified as John Ratzenberger. John is an award-winning actor known for his roles in Toy Story, Wall E, The Incredibles, and many more.
Luca Plot: What will happen?
As earlier mentioned, the movie’s information is still scarce, but we already know the movie is based on a young boy and his friend during the summer when he had a wonderful, unforgettable experience. However, a secret threatens their friendship, Luca’s friend is a sea monster. Will this secret destroy their friendship? We’ll see it in the movie when it releases.
Luca’s last name, Portorosso, is a pun for a 1992 movie by Studio Ghibli named Porco Rossi, involving an Italian pilot who lived in an animal’s body.
Luca Release Date: When will it air?
Luca is part of Disney’s slated works for the year 2021. Barring any unforeseen delays, the movie is expected to be released on June 18, 2021. Next year, the summer period will be compacted with movies because, before Luca releases, Pixar has Soul lined up.
