Apple TV+ has lots of yet-to-be-released series lined up for its viewers, with Acapulco set to be releasing next season in a few days. The series that first premiered on October 8, 2021, is a Spanish and English language comedy that is one of its kind.
The feel-good comedy-drama may have been inspired by How to be a Latin Lover, a 2017 film. With a good storyline and rich cast, viewers are already happy with the first two seasons and eagerly await the third to drop today. Well, let’s delve more into what this series has to offer.
Acapulco Season 3 Plot: What is this movie based on?
As we mentioned, this series is loosely inspired by How to be a Latin Lover. If you watch the film, Eugenio Derbez, who you may be familiar with, plays Mazimi Gallardo’s role, a wealthy Mexican businessman living his best life in Malibu. However, Maximo came from humble beginnings, as revealed by his conversations with Hugo, his young nephew, who he bombarded with lessons learned as a young man.
It then quickly takes a different turn as it unfolds in flashback form. Maximo gets his dream job in Acapulco, working in the Las Colin Luxury Resort. He works hard with his mother in mind, intending to buy her a glass to regain her vision and lift his family, including Sarah, out of poverty.
The staff can’t speak Spanish in the resort since it is forbidden, meaning that much of the show is English. However, this changes when the Mexican characters are at home since they openly speak Spanish.
Young Maximo then gets recruited by DonPablo Bonilla, a local business mogul following their sentimental exchange over a matchbox. Soon, he finds himself in a moral dilemma where he has to decide whether to exploit gullible people for money or not.
Maximo falls for Julia, an enthusiastic reader who loves reading female authors and is currently dating Chad, a tiny man. It gets pretty complicated since Julia’s mum owns the resort we talked about.
This is part of what we gathered from the trailer that dropped three weeks ago and the first two episodes. You can expect more to unfold as weeks go by.
