Now that the series has no future of ever returning for the second season, co-creator Scott Frank will be coming to our screens with another series, Monsieur Spade. AMC is yet to update us on when the detective series will be released. The series announcement came in March this year, and according to the reports, filming is underway in France. If filming goes as planned, you should expect the Monsieur Spade series to be released in 2023.
Monsieur Spade Season 1 Plot: What should we expect?
The series is based on one of Dashiell Hammet’s detectives, a protagonist of his 1930s classic, The Maltese Falcon. The Monsieur Spade revolves around Sam Spade, the detective who fought for France in the 1963 Algerian war. After the Algerian war ends, Spade is tired and needs a quiet place to unwind after spending most of his time on the battlefield. He moves to the Bozouls, a small town in the middle of nowhere. However, it does not take long until people who need his help disturb his peace.
Monsieur Spade Season 1 Cast: Who will appear?
At the moment, AMC has only given out one casting announcement, and we hope the other casting updates will trickle in soon. The Monsieur Spade series will star Clive Owen (American Crime Story) as the series protagonist. Owen will play Sam Spade, the detective who, after the war, retreats to a small town to cool off his head, only for his tranquility to be disrupted. Owen has worked on many projects, and his famous role remains the ‘Croupier’ series, where he starred as a struggling writer.
Scott Frank and Tom Frank are expected to write the series, and since the two have a lot of projects under their belt, there is no doubt the series will be well written. Frank is famous for writing The Queens Gambit and Fontana for creating shows like Oz (HBO). The two are also expected to execute the show alongside Barry Levinson (Dopesick), Teddy Schwarzman, and Michael Heimler. Other producers include Simon Arnal, Carole Scott, Carlo Martinelli, and David Helpern.
Monsieur Spade Season 1 Trailer: What should we expect?
Monsieur Spade does not have a first-season trailer, and we do not know how soon it will be released. AMC announced the announcement barely five months ago, and the series development might take time. The earliest you can expect Monsieur Trailer to be released is by 2023.
