The sci-fi show has finally broken the chains of continuous delays. After waiting for almost a decade, fans will finally get to see Y: The Last Man, an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s book. Y: The Last Man is officially in production! The show faced many delays as the original showrunners were replaced, and the lead actor of the series also abruptly left the project. FX announced that the show has begun production on 28th October 2020 and addressed the show as Y: The Last Man; it was previously titled Y only.

Y: The Last Man– What exactly is it?
Y: The Last Man was originally published as a comic by DC. Our protagonist is Y, also known as Yorick. Yorick is the last man alive on earth (no, don’t fantasize); he happens to be immune to the mysterious virus that killed all the male organisms. And yes, he is accompanied by Ampersand, his male pet monkey! I don’t know what the writers are implying, but the only male survivors are a man and a monkey! A lot of the show is about their immunity to the virus. The show follows the remaining population struggling to restore what was lost and to build something better. The news of a show that features a deadly virus makes a lot of sense right now!
Y: The Last Man- Changes in the cast!
There have been many changes in the cast, and now Timothy Hutton is no longer a cast member on FX’s Y: The Last Man. Olivia Thirlby has also replaced Imogen Poots as Hero Brown, and Ashley Romans is now playing the role of Agent 355 instead of Lashana Lynch.
Hutton was hired as the regular cast member to play the president of the US; Paul Gross has taken over that role now (he’s not a series regular, though). With the departure of Hutton from the show, a criminal complaint against Hutton is coming to light! Sera Johnston filed a report with the Vancouver Police Department, according to the report, Sera Johnson told that Hutton and a friend raped and assaulted her in 1983 when she was 14 years old. Hutton has denied the allegations.
Is Y: The Last Man coming in 2021?
The show began its development in 2015; however, when it was all set to initiate the Production, Aida Mashaka Croak and Michael Green (showrunners) left the show. The latest bump Y: The Last Man faced was this year in March when the production was halted before it even began due to COVID-19. Eliza Clark is the new showrunner, and she informed us that the first two episodes are already in the making. She told us that women would direct all the episodes of season one. Directors are Louise Friedberg, Romans, Diane Lane, Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Elliot Fletcher Thirlby, Diana Bang, and Juliana Canfield star. Aliza informed us that most of the show’s department heads are also mostly female, including the production designer, Casting director, stunt coordinator, both DPs, and editors. The exact release date has not been revealed, but the show is expected to land in 2021 via FX on Hulu.
