Based on the bestselling novel “Are You Sleeping’, Truth be Told is an American drama series written by Kathleen Barber. The series is about a crime podcaster who may or may not have convicted a suspect wrongfully, and therefore she has to revise the case again, look for reasons to justify that she did not make a mistake. Streaming on Apple TV, will the series get a renewal for the third season?

Truth Be Told Season 3 Recap:

Emily Willis is missing in Oakland, and the police are searching for her in drug dens. Poppy’s podcast discusses Drea Spivey, a young black girl who has gone missing twice in a year. They review interviews with her and find a lead in a nickname she mentioned. Poppy meets with a detective to share the lead.

They raise awareness for missing black girls at a public event, and Poppy and Eva go to a place Drea had an attachment to. Shreve regrets not doing more to protect Drea. Drea calls Poppy, saying she’s fine but owes someone and has to perform sexual favors. Noa quits the podcast.

Aames breaks the case and finds Drea dead at a motel. Poppy sees Eva walking out of one room, making direct eye contact.

Truth Be Told Season 3 Review:

Consequently, Truth Be Told ends with a passable finale that establishes this season as an improvement over season 2’s misstep and sets this criminal drama back on course. It’s not flawless, but it’s still a respectable watch. The huge Sybil revelation at the end was surprising, and I must admit that I thought Finney was the bad guy while actually serving Ochoa. I’m quite delighted to have been proven wrong in that regard!

The climax leaves a few loose ends, particularly the resolution involving Shreve and the Markus case, but overall, the major case is satisfactorily resolved. The finale makes the journey worthwhile in the end, even though the show might have benefited from a tighter framework and a run-time of 6 or 8 episodes for pacing purposes.
