The Underground Railroad, whose first season dropped in September 2021, is based on Colson Whitehead’s novel, The Underground Railroad. It explores the story of Cora Randal’s quest for freedom from a Georgia plantation.
In as much as it may be uncomfortable to watch, it is still one of the best drama series that you can lay your eyes on. It explores the dark side of history but tells the story in a beautiful way. The first season definitely left viewers yearning for more, especially at the ending, since just like the book, we can’t tell whether Cora gets freedom.

The Underground Railroad Season 2 Release Date: When will it be out?
The second season of this series has not yet been confirmed. There is a slim chance that it will happen since it was meant to be limited. However, plans can’t change since Big Little Lies was also meant to be limited but was eventually renewed. Therefore, we still have a chance at renewal, albeit limited.
If the second season happens, we should expect it to drop in the next 14 to 18 months. The earliest that it can drop is July 2022.
The Underground Railroad Season 2 Cast: Who will reappear in the show?
If this series gets renewed, expect Thuso Mbedu to come back as Cora Randall since it was mostly her story. The director may also add a few other actors to bring other perspectives and understand what drives people.
The Underground Railroad Season 2 Plot: What will we expect from the series?
We still don’t know whether there will be a second season since Amazon Prime hasn’t officially communicated. We can’t, therefore, give you a detailed synopsis. However, if the streaming platform decides to renew the series for a new season, the best option would be to tell someone else’s story and eventually show us that Cora got freedom. The storyline will also continue from the first season as is expected.

The Underground Railroad Season 1 Finale: What happened in Season 1?
The last episode of the first season left viewers with lots of suspense. Mabel wandered off to a nearby swamp after the death of her best friend and the murder of two babies who were left in her care after she gave birth to a stillborn baby.
She finally snapped out of what she was going through after realizing where she was and the fact that she had left a young daughter behind. She never made it back to Cora as she was bitten by a snake and died of the poison in the swamp. She wasn’t found by anyone, not even the slave catcher, Ridgeway, played by Joel Edgerton.
We should expect an amazing storyline if the series is renewed for a new season. Viewers will also be treated to lots of twists in the new season and a more detailed plot. Let’s wait and see what the directors have in store for us.
